Fort Snelling, St Paul, MN – 19 AUG 2012

Once the furthest outpost (1820s) of the US military, today it’s surrounded by city. The below photo is from their website, it allows you to see the entire (small portion) of the recreated fort.
Located on top of the bluff overlooking the junction of the Mississippi and the Minnesota Rivers, it served the US military for over 120 years.Link to Historic Fort Snelling

When you visit the fort they are usually dressed and operating as an early 1800s community, but today was a special Civil War experience.
